Slow Money Gathering 22/11/2011
This is probably one the most exciting emerging things in the progressive food and Agriculture scene at the moment. Having the Investment community engaged means solutions we have been drumming on about for eons will be more ably put into the practice with the flexibility needed outside normal financial services. Here is a pretty comprehensive look at what happened at their 3rd gathering. Wished I was there. Next year I will be putting a lot of time bringing Slow Money into the Australian context. The Food Connect Foundation is a founding member of Slow Money so look out for more info early next year Add Comment Launch of Tasmania's CSA Toolkit 21/11/2011
This week I'm in Tasmania to launch the Community Supported Agriculture Toolkit. Over many years of collaborating with a bunch of committed folk, it's a real pleasure to see this project bear fruit. It's also great to be back catching up with old friends on the Apple Isle - the place where I cut my teeth on my first CSA after losing the dairy farm in the late '90's. So if you're around you can catch us at Woodbridge, Hobart, Launceston and Burnie, after I've had a bit of R&R on Bruny Island, Details here! CSA's are one the most diverse and transformative models of food distribution that can be started with little capital base. They importantly give city folk a chance to participate in creating a new fairer food system with farmers as well as through changing their purchasing behaviours.
